Title III of the Older Americans Act

Overview

The Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA) provides funding for services (under Title III) for adults age 60 and older. Every county in the US is served by an Area Agency on Aging, and Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging is responsible for the administration of these services in the following counties: Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union.

Title III funding covers a variety of services including meal programs, supportive services (examples below), evidence-based programs, and caregiver supports and services.

Supportive Services include:

•Information and Referral
•Case Management
•In-home Care
•Home Repairs
•Transportation
•Adult Day Care
•Chore Services

COAAA awards Older Americans Act Title III funds to community organizations. Many of these organizations have other funding that allows them to provide services in addition to those listed. Waiting lists can occur for OAA services. When contacting these organizations, be sure to describe your situation so they can better meet your needs through the range of assistance available.
